Since I was a young girl, pandas have always been one of my favorite animals. Thus, since the birth of the baby panda at the Smithsonian Zoo, I've been obsessed with the Smithsonian's Panda Cam. I can't quite explain it, but there is something about pandas that make them human like, or at least that is what I think. Saturday was the debut of baby panda Bei Bei. Being that I like to follow through with my obsessions, I dragged my boyfriend and 2 of my friends down to DC at 8 am.
We arrived at the zoo around 2 pm and after a 45 minute wait (which is considered short,) we were allowed to enter the panda house! Luckily while we were on line, we were able to see big sister Bao Bao and father Tian Tian. In the house, we were lucky that Bei Bei was actually awake and in the same room as mother Mei Xiang. I had heard that he was sleeping for most of the morning so I was hoping that he would be awake. Obviously, I was a lot more excited to see him than he was to see me, but he was walking from room to room. At the exit is the panda cam room! It was amazing to see more than a dozen monitors and 2 volunteers working hard to make worldwide viewers happy.
Take a look at some of the adorable pictures I was able to capture. :)
